Hello everyone, welcome to our blog and thanks for tuning in!

Cody and I have wanted to build a teardrop trailer for a long time now.  We enjoy going on road trips, but want an easier way to camp, especially if we go on longer trips to areas with different types of wildlife and climates than we are used to (e.g., snakes and high temps in the southwest).  Teardrop trailers jumped out at us right away as a great alternative to tenting because they allow you to still camp wherever you can pitch a tent, except you get to sleep on a queen size bed in a protected, enclosed space and you also have a kitchen area built into the back of the trailer.  There are many styles of teardrops, but we wanted to make sure we would be able to tow the trailer easily and also ensure it could stand up to all sorts of weather.  We finally came to decide on the Chesapeake Light Craft (CLC) teardrop.  This company offers kits for people to build their own boats, kayaks, canoes, and teardrop trailers.  Because they specialize in watercraft, their materials are lightweight and end up being very waterproof.  It's a perfect match!  And honestly, it looks really cool (sample photos below).  We recently received the teardrop kit, and we've already completed day one of building.  Take a look at the next blog post for more information and photos of our first day.

We want to show our family and friends the progress we make as we build our teardrop trailer, so we decided to create a blog.  We will be uploading photos and describing the construction process so that you can follow along with us.  This project will take us through the fall, and we hope to have everything complete before winter sets in.  Check back in for more updates!
